Butter Bell – Goldenrod
The Butter Bell crock is the traditional French method for keeping butter fresh and spreadable without refrigeration for up to 30 days.
The Butter Bell’s unique design enhances butter’s delicate flavor, while providing a practical and decorative solution for serving and storing butter.
- Butter stays soft, delicious and spreadable without refrigeration
- Holds 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- Made of durable New Bone China
The secret to keeping your butter fresh and spreadably soft is to keep a butter crock on your counter. Before the age of refrigeration, butter was often kept in earthenware pots submerged in water. The modern water-submerged butter crock is thought to have first appeared in France in the Middle Ages.
Crocks keep butter fresh at room temperature (up to about 80° F) on the counter for several weeks without spoiling. This is better than a refrigerator because the butter is protected from the air, and it remains at room temperature. It won’t tear bread and is easy to measure.
The unique design keeps butter at the perfect “spreading” consistency by reflecting outside heat while insulating and cooling the butter. Flavor and freshness is protected by an airtight seal of water at the base of the crock.
The Butter Bell is Easy to Use
Pour approximately 1/3 cup of cold water into the base of the Butter Bell crock
Pack one stick (1/2 cup) softened butter firmly into the bell-shaped cup of the lid.
Replace lid into the bottom of the crock. The water will create an air tight seal to protect the butter’s flavor and freshness.
All Butter Bells are made from the highest quality materials and are completely safe, meeting FDA food safety regulatory standards for lead and cadmium.
