This model features a very thin probe leaving no noticeable hole in your bread.
The main distinguishing feature of this model vs. many others is the ability to calibrate it. We don’t think calibration is important for bread baking since all of these models will be accurate enough anyway, but if you’re also using it for cheese and/or candy making, you might want to be able to calibrate it to insure utmost accuracy.
Where most “instant” read thermometers take 20-30 seconds to reach a true temperature reading, this one takes about 6-8 seconds.
When you’re checking to see if your bread is done, waiting 20-30 seconds for your “instant” read thermometer to reach a true reading seems like an eternity. To minimize heat loss from oven and food, you want an accurate reading quickly.

This a really nice fast thermometer. We use it frequently for yogurt making, baking, etc. I like that it’s so sensitive the digital read out promptly shows if the temperature is increasing or decreasing. The narrow probe for bread is especially nice.
