SAF Red Instant Yeast – 16 oz.

SAF Red Label instant yeast has solved bread baking performance problems for many bakers.

It is a high potency, fast acting yeast that can be added directly to your dry ingredients without it having to be activated in water first. SAF Instant Yeast is more than twice as active as regular compressed yeast.

SAF yeast comes vacuum sealed in a 1 lb. package and its long shelf life can will be extended even further in the fridge or freezer. After opening, SAF yeast maintains potency for a minimum of 5 years when stored in a freezer. Some users have reported it keeping much longer than that. The yeast is granulated and until the package is opened it feels almost like a solid brick because of the airtight vacuum seal.

    Best Instant Yeast Ever! Got this yeast today and made a nice big loaf of bread in my baking cloche. Perfect. I can see why so many folks rave about this instant yeast. It’s easy to use and works great! I’ll keep some in my freezer at all times! :)

    This is my review of SAF Red Yeast left at ChefTalk.com a few years ago:

    My one pound package of SAF R.I.Y. was purchased in Nov/Dec 2007 and in between uses, has been stored in the freezer in a glass Le Parfait container graced with a wire spring bale and rubber gasket for good preservation. Today, 19SEP2010, the last of that pound of yeast was used in making my weekly batard consisting of 6C flour, either KA AP flour or bread flour from Weisenberger Mills of Kentucky. And a poolish went into each loaf.
    The one pound package of yeast made approximately 125-150 two-pound loaves and its activity never seemed to waiver. The yeast seems just as active now as it did way back at the end of 2007.

    there is a reason breadtopia only sells a single yeast. because this is the STANDARD. if you are feel like rolling the dice, go ahead and buy some yeast from your local grocery store. it will…..probably work. id put money on this working 100% of the time even if you were dumb enough to abuse it to some extent. after ‘the bomb’ all that will be left are cockroaches and my SAF yeast. enjoy the roaches, ill stick with bread.

    This is the best yeast ever! Mixes easily into your dry ingredients. You don’t need to disolve in water first.

    Makes a noticeable difference in the height of the rise, and shortens the rising time considerably.

    I keep this in my freezer in an airtight container. I’m currently using from some I purchashed 3 yrs. ago. Still works great!

    I also use it straight from the freezer. No need to bring it up to room temperature before using.

    It’s the best yeast I’ve ever used. I highly recomend it.
