For achieving a uniform bake on your bagel. Bagels are taken from the boiling water, or ice bath (depending on your method), dipped in their topping and placed topping side down on the wet burlap side of the bagel board. The board is then set directly on a hot baking stone to bake for about 4 minutes before being flipped over onto the stone to finish baking.

Important Instructional Note: The entire bagel board is wetted (soaked) thoroughly before placing on hot baking stone. This prevents it from burning for the 4 minutes they are in the oven.

Each board will easily accommodate 3 medium to large sized bagels. Four medium size bagels will fit, it’s just a little trickier flipping 4 bagels onto a baking stone with proper spacing between them.

The wood is Cedar and they’re covered on one side with burlap. Burlap may be plain (most likely) as in the photo above, or have red or black stripes as in the video.

Dimensions of each board: 16″ long x 3 ½” wide x ¾” thick.

    A couple of years ago, I attended a two-day class on making bagels. The resultant bagels simply were not worth the time and effort. After watching Eric’s video, I ordered these bagel boards and finally got up the courage to attempt bagel making once again. Wow! Following Eric’s recipe for half whole wheat sourdough bagels (though I used some rye sourdough and a different kind of wheat – no Red Fife left in my cupboard), the bagels were wonderful! These boards made manipulating the bagels in the oven and the baking process easy!
