We love these bowl covers. One size easily covers bowls from small 2 quart to very large 5 quart. Creates a snug fit over your proofing basket to prevent dough from drying out during proofing and also allowing space for the dough to rise high.

We actually did quite a lot of research on this type of bowl cover in determining which brand to carry. Most were less expensive but incredibly flimsy. Only one we evaluated was heavier duty than this one, but the elastic band was less, well, elastic, so you would need at least a couple different sizes to accommodate the range of uses this one has. Plus it was opaque, unlike transparent like ours. We like that you can see the proofing dough (or whatever) through the cover.

I have mixed feelings about these dough covers. But overall, liked the quality of it.
Pros:
– nice and large, covers any shape size container.
– sturdy plastic, better than the stuff you get from Amazon.
Cons:
– I would not wash these in the dishwasher, top or bottom rack. The heaviness of the water dragged the cap to the bottom letting part of the cap hang from the top rack with water inside the cap which can puncture the plastic. Hand wash if you want to prolong the usage of these caps.

Basically shower caps for your bread loaves! With weekly continuous use, the elastic has given out, but I use rubber bands around and it works. Definitely better than plastic wrap.

FANTASTIC reusable alternative to throw away cling wrap! I used 4 covers the day after receiving: 2 for pizza dough balls in smallish bowls, one over a small preferment, & another for my stand mixer bowl containing challah dough. Works great on all bowl sizes used so far. We have a wood stove for heat. These covers maintain moisture as opposed to a tea towel. Thank you, Breadtopia, for helping keep cling wrap out of our landfills.

It saves plastic wrap but after a few years the elastic has given up. I do keep rubber bands and have a few I keep with my covers. I slip them on and good as new!

These work really well for going over my large mixing bowl during the bulk fermentation and over my bannetons for the second rise. They look small, but fear not, they’ll fit. The elastic doesn’t seem particularly sturdy, but I’ve only used them a few times. So I think I’ll mark some for large bowls and some only for the bannetons in hopes that I don’t stretch them out too quickly.

Very handy and inexpensive. Only downside is that the elastic wears out easily, but I think that is related to the size of bowl one is stretching it over rather than the product. Maybe best used with a medium mixing bowl.

I don’t like to buy cling wrap and have been using plastic bags from other foods to cover my bowls. These are good in that they easily fit over larger bowls. Unfortunately, the elastic gets stretched out really quickly so that for smaller bowls, I often have to do a twist and tuck then secure an end under the bowl to keep the air out. The price is phenomenal — I just wish the elastic would retain it’s original shape longer.

Super useful – so nice to be able to re-use these over and over again. They really do accommodate a wide range of bowl/vessel sizes, including fitting comfortably over my very large Pyrex that I use to proof dough. Great purchase!

I love these! I never liked using plastic wrap because it feels like a waste to use it once, and I don’t always want to use a towel. They wash up easily and work great for a variety of things. Proofing yeast, dough rising, even covering already cooked things that you don’t want to leave open. So useful!

I was looking forward to these to reduce my use of disposable plastic wrap, but mine broke after less than 5 uses! I hadn’t even stretched it over large bowls. The plastic is very quickly breaking away from the rubber band part 🙁

Very very late. But I just have to follow up on my previous review. It is not an issue at all that the bowl covers slide down easily. Because they slide up just as easily!
Just look at the picture, taken after a first rising. An even better/higher rise than with loose cling film. Perfect.

I received mine yesterday. I love them.
One thing though. A Pyrex 3 liter mixing bowl is too slippery. When over the bowl, the elastic band insists on sliding down as far as possible. Instead of staying near the top of the bowl. Result is that the top of the cover is flat. It lies almost flush with the top of the bowl. See photo.
Any tips to keep the elastic band from sliding down are welcome. 😉

I originally purchased these bowl covers on 11/16/2013. They work great! I’m still using the first one I pulled out from the pack over a year later. They are super durable and easy to rinse out if dough or food sticks to them. I use mine to cover my mixing bowl for the first rise in my bread making adventures. Great product!
