I wondered if the extra inch was worth it. It was, in my opinion. I love the solid wood handle. It feels very sturdy and nice in the hand. The edge of the knife is blunt, if you were wondering, not beveled. I like the extra inch so I have the blade in view when I’m cutting dough apart. Its not going up to the handle and its easier to judge getting a good division when its just the blade. I used it to divide dough to make garlic knots and it worked great. I like the weight of it. Its nice to handle and use. It cleans up pretty easily, though I haven’t tried it with a high hydration dough yet.
