Made in the USA of Kevlar®
Protects up to 500F Degrees

A practical alternative to the clumsy oven mitt. An oven mitt has two core requirements: to protect your hands from burning when handling hot objects, while offering enough dexterity to keep from dropping those hot items.

Made with Kevlar® and Nomex®, these oven gloves withstand extreme heat up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Enough protection to safely handle the high temperatures called for in the no knead bread recipes or home pizza making. Now it’s easy to lift that piping hot loaf from its baking dish or baking stone. Please be aware that cast iron transmits heat much faster than ceramic, so if you’re taking heavy and very hot cast iron bakeware out of the oven, it has to be done quickly and preferably with additional protection (eg. towel, hot pad).

  • One size fits most adult men
  • Machine washable cold and air dry

Note: If you purchase both the men’s and ladies gloves, you can tell them apart by the cuff trim. It’s yellow on the mens and white on the ladies.

Breadtopia Oven Gloves (pair) – Mens

I’ve had these for a few years now, and the dexterity advantage of these gloves over my old mitts is huge. I do agree with reviewers who say that, when handling 500º cast iron, you don’t want to dawdle. These are heat resistant, not heat proof, and you’ll eventually feel the heat.

I have a friend who often cooks at my place, and she initially declined to use these and stuck with the mitts. Over time, I noticed that she had completely switched over to the gloves. I’m writing this review because she just sent me to the site to check whether they could be laundered (answer: yes, in cold water with air drying). I think we’ll get another pair anyhow.

Bought men’s oven gloves. Size is slightly large for my medium sized hand, and I’m happy with that. I recommend this item.
    Pros:
    1) Has protected my hands from heat (although I’ve not tested up to the 500 degree limit).
    2) Allows hands more dexterity than oven mitts due to it being a glove.
    Cons:
    1) Takes slightly more time to take gloves off my hands than mitts, but this is not a concern for me. You can’t just shake them off your hands like a loose fitting mitt. For those with larger hands this could be something to consider if gloves fitted tightly and the need existed to remove them very quickly from the hands.

While these gloves are comfortable they do not live up to the description or reviews that they are sufficient enough to withstand temps of 500°. After heating a Dutch oven to 450° for baking I tried the gloves for the first time. From simply lifting the lid off my Dutch Oven I had to almost immediately put the lid down on the oven door. They are comfortable, but I will not use them for baking . I’ll be using my bulky silicone gloves made in China that I Fee absolutely no heat transfer while performing the task I described.

I love these gloves! I’ve had my pair for many years. I wash them in my clothes washer and throw them in the the dryer and they have held up great! I feel no heat from my 500 degree bread cloche. I highly recommend them to all bakers!

I’m perplexed by the reviews that say they are getting burned or even feel any warmth at all through these gloves. I have been using them for years now to take the lid off my 500 F pre-heated clay baker, transfer dough into the baker, put the lid on, and then take the whole baker out of the oven after an hour of baking at 400+ F. I never feel any heat at all through the gloves, much less get burnt. I have never held onto the hot baker for any longer than it takes to take it out of the oven and put it down on the stovetop, but I’m not rushing in any way and I would also have no hesitation to pause with the hot baker in my gloved hands if I had a reason to. I wonder if we are all using the same gloves. Mine are perfect for their purpose.

I bake 4 loaf batches of sourdough in multi cookers, I am surprised that I really feel the heat to the point of burning, what’s worse is that they stay hot and keep burning even after I’m not touching the pans, so I’m rushing to pull them off as fast as possible. I order from Breadtopia often and everything has been super as well as their customer service. Not sure why my experience is different than all the other great reviews.

  7. Randy Francisco

All around great gloves. Romertopf at 500–a bit dicey, don’t dawdle.

  8. Suzy Encinias

LOVE THESE! I’m ordering my third set as I gave one pair away. The BEST!

We Have been using these gloves for about 3 months in our small scale bread bakery. They are great for handling Pullman pan loaves. They initially shed some fuzz but that has subsided for the most part. Still don’t use them to directly handle bread for potential shedding reasons. We wash them about once a week and they are holding up well. Would purchase again.

Yeah, these things are fantastic. Can grab the dutch oven at 500°F with no issue. If you are prone to burning yourself, or not, get a pair.

Nothing wrong with these but I like my oven mitts better. I can get them on and off easier and faster which makes them nicer to use than gloves. Love Breadtopia!

  12. Mitch

I can now handle my clay bakers with ease. Get a pair.

I purchased two of these gloves Awhile back. Now that I have used them awhile, I thought to comment. First, kudos for the 5-finger design. Gotta love it, as it provides so much versatility. The Kevlar-Nomex construction does exactly what it’s supposed to do. These gloves are an outstanding improvement over generic oven mitts. Only one downside: The stitching between the little and 3rd fingers is coming apart on both gloves. Unless the unraveling continues, I won’t complain. I certainly would not hesitate to buy these again, and I continue to recommend them to friends.

amazing – in an un-bread related accident, i burned my hand while removing my cast iron pan from the oven. i was using a towel but it slipped and i put a horrible burn in the palm of my hand. i used to have an oven mitt but it was so ruined and also didnt work well, i discarded it a while ago.

as i stared at that horrible burn, i remembered these gloves and bought 2 immediately. i just used them for the first time – to remove my romertomf clay baker from the oven. i was able to ‘palm’ it from the bottom and drop the burning hot loaf of bread into my other gloved hand. this was a dangerous chore with the towel i used to use. i felt no heat at all, though im sure i would had i needed to handle it any longer. i am so glad i bought these, i have enough problems not to need burns on my hands as well.

Great, the only downside is i didn’t buy 2, makes life easier and they really do keep off the heat.

    Well worth the money.

These are really good. Work just the way they should and beat pot holders all the way. Wonderful product.

    I’m a retired firefighter.

I believe these mitts are the same liners that we have in our given gloves…outlined in leather.

After receiving these and using them, I threw my other mitts and potholders in the trash…true.

The gloves give you the dexterity not had with a glove or any potholder. Especially useful with the Romertopf or I would suspect the LaCloche.

A superior product well worth the money.

How’d I live without these? I used these once and then stood in my kitchen shaking my head at the old “pretty” pot holder gloves, as well as a pair of silicone ones, I’d used for so long wondering what I could re-task them for. These gloves are awesome. They’re kindof big, would be great if there were sizes, but they work SO much better than the silicone beasties or cloth pot holders.
Don’t bother with just one. Get a pair, especially if you’re using a covered bread baker.
