It surpasses expectations as a dutch oven — capable of housing both a batard and boule — but this baker truly shines when it’s turned upside down. When inverted (as your loaf bakes in the “lid”), the curvature of the “base” is perfect for shoring up a wet dough from pancaking out, and low enough to allow for easy scoring. It’s also relatively light given its 6 qt capacity (a huge plus for those who may lack the grip and dexterity to safely remove a 500-degree SUV from the oven).
